An attempt to smuggle approximately 30k e-vaporizer products into Singapore was stopped on November 17 at 3am by ICA officers at the Tuas Checkpoint.
According to Immigration and Checkpoints Authority, “A Malaysia-registered lorry carrying a consignment of frozen chicken nuggets was detected with 2,600 e-vaporisers and 27,006 e-vaporiser refill pods concealed in various parts of the lorry cabin”.
ICA officials discovered the contraband items in cartons that were wrapped in black garbage bags while inspecting the driver’s rest area. Under the floorboards of the lorry, additional e-vaporizer products were also discovered.
“As guardians of our borders, ICA is committed to facilitating trade & travel while keeping Singapore’s borders safe and secure”.
The Health Sciences Authority seized all exhibits, and investigations are ongoing, according to ICA.
