A Singaporean man, Danial Abdul Rahman, was sentenced to three years and one month in prison along with four strokes of the cane after pleading guilty to possessing child pornography, including videos featuring infants, and sharing such content via Twitter and Telegram.

According to ST, Rahman, 31, engaged in these activities over a period of several years, from 2017 to March 2022.
The case came to light following a police raid on Rahman’s home in May 2022.
Authorities uncovered 285 sexually explicit videos involving more than 400 children, some of whom were infants below a year old.
The videos ranged from 20 seconds to nearly two hours and depicted disturbing scenes, including a young boy crying in distress, as per the report.
Investigations traced Rahman’s online activities back to 2017, when he accessed the dark web and downloaded child pornography onto his Google Drive account. He also joined various Telegram channels where such material was shared and distributed.
In 2018, Rahman created a Twitter account through which he posted obscene content involving adult males. This account amassed up to 500 followers, some of whom contacted him privately requesting access to more illegal content.
Rahman admitted to sharing child pornography with followers and other Twitter users, and after his Twitter account was suspended in May 2021, he continued to receive and fulfill requests via Telegram. He downloaded and distributed these videos over a period of four years, starting from 2018 until March 2022.
The court was informed that some of the videos depicted children in distress, with one showing a young boy crying, indicating possible harm.
According to DPP : “At least one video showed clear indications that the young male subject depicted in that video was in pain and distress, as evidenced by his crying.”
The prosecution urged for a sentence of up to three years and three months’ imprisonment and six strokes of the cane, emphasizing the severity of the crimes.
While the court did not specify how Rahman’s activities were uncovered, the police raid revealed the extent of his involvement in child exploitation.
