In a heartwarming display of integrity, a rojak hawker from Chinatown Complex made headlines after promptly addressing an error involving a customer’s payment.
Victor Goh, the owner of Crispy Rojak, discovered that a customer had mistakenly transferred $100 instead of the intended $10 for his delicious dish.
The incident, which took place on December 10, 2024, was shared by Goh on the Hawkers United – Dabao 2020 Facebook page.
In his post, he informed the customer that a refund of $90 was already on its way.
“To the unknown customer who paid me $100 via NETS QR for his $10 Crispy Rojak, please know that your refund of $90 is on the way, no need to come down personally,” Goh wrote.
He humorously added a plea for customers to be more careful with QR payments, jokingly stating, “Don’t give me Christmas ang bao ah. Thank you!”
Goh attached a screenshot of an email he sent to bank personnel seeking assistance in processing the refund, alongside a digital payment receipt that confirmed the error.
The post quickly garnered attention from netizens, many of whom praised Goh for his honesty and integrity. Comments flooded in, with one user remarking, “If there are more of you, the world will be a better place.”
