Singapore woman charged after allegedly throwing human waste at HDB block

A 63-year-old Singaporean woman has been charged after allegedly throwing human waste and food waste from a Housing Board flat in Marsiling on multiple occasions.

Viona Teo Kee Liok was charged in court on Thursday (Jan 15) with seven counts of public nuisance.

The incidents are said to have taken place at Block 131, Marsiling Rise, where waste was allegedly thrown onto the parapet of a unit on the 10th floor.

According to report, the first incident occurred in the early hours of Christmas Day last year, at about 4.25am, when human waste was allegedly thrown, causing annoyance to a man.

On four other occasions, she is accused of throwing human waste during the morning hours, after 8am and 9am. She also allegedly threw food waste on three separate occasions. The most recent incident was said to have occurred on Monday.

Following the charges, the court ordered that Teo be remanded at the Institute of Mental Health for a medical examination. She is scheduled to return to court on Jan 29.

If found guilty of public nuisance, Teo faces a fine of up to S$2,000 for each charge. Repeat offenders may also be sentenced to up to three months’ jail in addition to a fine.
