[Suspected Drowning] : 52-year-old Woman Dies After She Was Found Unconscious In Keppel Club Swimming Pool

A 52-year-old woman was found unconscious in a swimming pool located at 10 Bukit Cherimin Road, Keppel Club on Saturday evening (Feb 5).

According to ST, the authorities were alerted to the case of suspected drowning at around 7:50pm.

The woman was taken to the Singapore General Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. She was unconscious when taken to the hospital.

Based on preliminary investigations, the police do not suspect foul play. Investigation are ongoing and media has reached the club for update.

The club has a history of more than 100 years, according their website the club celebrated its 111-year anniversary in 2015.

The club is named after Royal Navy officer, Sir Henry Keppel upon his successful clearing of the Straits Settlements of pirates in 1832.

1904 : The founding of Keppel Golf Club. The Club sits on a piece of land first owned by New Dock Co. Ltd, and starts off as a three-hole golf course in the midst of a nutmeg plantation.

Not the first case : In 1999 a 9-year-old boy had drowned in the same club swimming pool, he died an hour after he was taken to the hospital.
