A 15-year-old male teenager will be charged on Wednesday (Mar 27) with voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon, after a victim was allegedly struck with a metal rod in Sengkang.
The incident occurred when an unknown assailant allegedly struck the victim’s back with a metal rod and hurled vulgarities at her as she was walking along Fernvale Lane, according to police.
The victim sustained minor injuries as a result of the attack.
The police received a report regarding the assault on Mar 22 around 12pm and initial investigations indicated that the attack was unprovoked.
With the help of images from police cameras, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division were able to identify the teenager responsible for the assault. He was subsequently arrested on Monday.
The police stated that they have zero tolerance towards such acts of violence and will take action against those who disregard the law.
The teenager will be charged with voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon. If convicted, he could face a jail term of up to seven years, a fine, caning, or a combination of these punishments.
