Six individuals are set to face serious charges following a violent altercation that led to the death of a 25-year-old man early Sunday (Sep 22) morning.
The suspects, aged between 20 and 24, were apprehended after a brawl erupted at a coffee shop located near Kitchener Road in the Farrer Park area.
The incident took place around 4:05 AM on September 22, prompting a swift response from authorities.
Upon arrival at the scene along Verdun Road, police found two men, aged 24 and 25, in unconsciousness. They were immediately transported to the hospital, where the 25-year-old later succumbed to his injuries.
A 22-year-old man is facing charges of murder, which, under Singaporean law, can result in the death penalty if convicted.
Additionally, three men aged between 20 and 23, alongside two women aged 24, will be charged with rioting while armed with a deadly weapon. This charge carries a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison and caning.
Police investigations are ongoing.
An 8world report highlighted a fight that occurred at a coffee shop located near 16 Verdun Road. Two pairs of black slippers were noted as evidence, with one pair discovered inside the coffee shop.
Footage captured after the incident revealed the black slippers positioned next to some tables amidst several overturned chairs.
Additionally, a small pool of blood was observed approximately 50 meters away from the coffee shop. In response to the situation, police established cordons around the coffee shop, a nearby alley on Sam Leong Road, and in front of the Novotel Singapore hotel on Kitchener Road.
