Eight-year-old Kid Forced To Watch TV All Night By His Parents For Watching “Too Much TV”

In a bizarre incident, an eight-year-old Chinese boy’s parents made him watch TV all night as a kind of punishment. You must me wondering, how is watching TV all night is a punishment? read this story to findout.

WHAT HAPPENED :

According to South China Morning Post, the boy is from Hunan province in central China, he was left at home while his parents went out and the kid was asked to ‘finish his homework’ and go to bed by 8.30pm.

Later that evening, when the parents came home, the boy’s mother discovered he hadn’t finished his homework or showered and was still awake watching TV instead of going to bed.

“Although the boy went to bed once his parents came home, his mother dragged him back to the living room and turned on the TV and forced him to watch it all night” SCMP reported.

He actually looks relaxed at first and ate snacks, but as the hours go by, you can see him struggle to stay awake.  

He played on his tablet device and stretched out on the sofa before he started crying at around 2am. At one point he snuck into his bed to sleep but his mother forced him back to the living room to continue watching television.

The parents took turns monitoring the boy. His father had to wake him up a few times. The parents did not allow the boy to go to bed until around 5am.

The story sparked a heated debate online in mainland China about strict upbringing and discipline. The boy may have taken lessons and avoided television for a while, but the incident sparked outrage on various social media platform.

Many social media users termed the punishment as ”too harsh” and even demanded stern action against the parents.

The mother said tough parenting had a positive effect on her son, according to the report.

“I had a similar experience. After taking our three-year-old son, who is a fan of KFC, to eat hamburgers and chicken for three days, now his enthusiasm has gone,” a user wrote online.

“The punishment was too harsh, and what if the boy starts to get used to staying up late?” another user added.
