On Wednesday morning, a 38-year-old man was detained for drink driving which lead to the death of a cyclist Adam Road.
According to media reports, 43-year-old male cyclist who was involved in the accident died. He was a member of the Australian and New Zealand Association (Anza) cycling club.
WHAT HAPPENED :
On Wednesday, just before the Pan-Island Expressway exit heading to Tuas, a car and a bicycle were involved in an accident. The accident was reported to the police at around 6.30am.
The accident involved a white Mercedes car and a bicycle according to news sources.
The cyclist was unconscious when he was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where he died, said the police and Singapore Civil Defence Force according to media report.
According Shin Min Daily News, the victim’s friends noticed he was falling behind while they were riding along a road. He had collapsed on the side of the road, as they noticed when they turned around.
Initially when the reports came out the police said that they are investigating two men, aged 38 and 40.
Today in an update on the case the police said that 38-year-old man was arrested for drink driving and dangerous driving causing death in an hit-and-run accident in Adam Road. The police also said that investigations are ongoing.
The 38-year-old cyclist was a member of the Australian and New Zealand Association (Anza) Cycling club. After the news came out and image of witness appeal went viral, a message was posted on the official Instagram account Anza Cycling club.
Here’s what they wrote,
“Dear Anza Cycling community.
We are aware of an incident that occurred this morning, in which an Anza cyclist, part of our triathlon community, has passed away.
“We are working to find out more information, but for now, out of respect for his family, we urge you to not share photos or conjecture about the incident.”
