SG Govt Has Launched A Survey To Gather Public Views About The LGBT+ Community And Section 377A

The Singapore government has launched a survey to gather public views about the LGBT+ community in Singapore and Section 377A.

The survey is conducted by REACH which is the national feedback and engagement unit under the Ministry of Communications and Information (MCI).

The Minister for Law and Home Affairs K Shanmugam had said in Parliament that “the government is considering the ‘best way forward’ on Section 377A”.

In response to questions raised during the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Committee of Supply debate, Minister for Law and Home Affairs K Shanmugam said that “the government is considering the ‘best way forward’ on Section 377A, which criminalises gay s*x, and in doing so will respect different viewpoint and consider them carefully.”

All individual ministers are bound by the Cabinet’s decisions on government policy and they should refrain from expressing their own personal views on the matter, he said at the State of the Family 2022 event.

This survey is open to everyone regardless of your sexual orientation and/or gender identity. Your feedback will be shared with relevant agencies and could be used within the Government for policy updates and changes.
