A 46-year-old man who tried to a woman in Beach Road with a chopper on Thursday (April 14) has been arrested and charged on Saturday (April 16) with attempt to murder.
According to ST, Cheng Guoyuan (46) who is a Chinese national appeared in court via video link from Tan Tock Seng Hospital in a bed with an investigating officer next to him during court session.
Cheng will be remanded for psychiatric assessment after he is discharged from hospital and will return to court on May 6.
The alleged attacker is said to be the husband of the 41-year-old victim, who works in a restaurant along the same stretch of eateries in Beach Road. The woman suffered multiple cuts in the attack.

The police told AsiaOne that they were alerted to a case of dispute at Block 546 Serangoon North Avenue 3 at 1.35pm that day. They arrested a 62-year-old man. A 25-year-old man and a 61-year-old woman were conscious when taken to hospital. On Monday (Jan 10), the suspect was charged in court for one count of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous means.
Armed robbery at Tampines, 23-year-old man allegedly slashed the left knuckle of a 78-year-old with penknife
The Police said that a 23-year-old and a 50-year-old were arrested for their suspected involvement in a case of armed robbery with hurt.
The pair, aged 23 and 50, allegedly robbed a convenience store at Tampines Street 71 on Sunday (Jan 9), said the police in a media release on Monday night(Jan 10). Police identified the duo with the help of police cameras and ground inquiries.
Man Brings A Large Chopper To Woodlands Park
A 22-year-old man named Mustaqim Zakaria called his case officer at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) and told her that he wanted to “kill people” and “kill everyone”, prompting the woman to file a police report that sparked an island-wide search for the man.
He was eventually found at a public park in Woodlands that evening in possession of a chopper and was later arrested. On Tuesday (March 15), Mustaqim Zakaria, 22, was jailed for 21 weeks after pleading guilty to one charge under the Protection from Harassment Act and one charge of carrying a weapon that may cause hurt, TODAY Online reported.
